We've put journalism into play at Rincon Beach that straddles the Ventura and Santa Barbara County line. This unique beach off a freeway has its very own freeway going on in the parking lot to the beach. But that's another subject.

Surf Culture and its Subcultures

Rincon Beach has so many subcultures of surfers to focus in on. This group appears to be locals youth.

Beach photojournalism

When you visit Rincon Beach or any particular beach, for that matter, you may have to stick around and observe before capturing the photo action. Rincon is internationally known, making it a quick stop for travelers who want to say they saw it and tried the beach known for three surf breaks.

Look Around

There's a lot going on for such a little beach. There are local surfers who stay all day. There are students who drop by to get in their practice. There are curious tourists just checking it out. There are clam diggers. All at one little beach.

Photography Rincon Surfing

If you want to capture surfers at Rincon Beach it's not too hard. The waves break close to shore so you can get by without using telephoto lenses.

Weather

Rincon is normally sunny during the daylight hours but due to atmospheric conditions you may get some mist and even fog. If you can't control the time in which you visit, just roll with it and do your best. The picture of surfers on this page was taken in overcast to partly sunny conditions. You probably notice there are no harsh shadows and the subjects' faces look slightly grainy.
